Removing and installing the fan board on a Dell PowerEdge R750xs requires careful handling to avoid damaging components. According to the official information of Dell, below are the steps to remove and install the fan board of Dell R750xs.
Removal Steps
Before You Begin
Power off the system, disconnect all the attached peripherals of the R750xs.
Ensure that you always use ESD protection when working inside the system.
1, Power - off and Disconnect: Turn off the system and all connected peripheral devices, and then disconnect the system from the power socket and peripheral devices. If the system is installed in a rack, remove it from the rack as needed.
2, Remove the System Cover: Remove the system cover according to the corresponding operation method.
3, Remove the Air Shroud: Hold both ends of the air shroud and lift it off the system.
4, Remove the Cooling Fan Cage: Lift the blue release lever to unlock the cooling fan cage from the system. Hold the release lever and lift the cooling fan cage off the system.
5, Remove the Cooling Fan Cage Board: Disconnect all cables connected to the fan board, loosen the four screws on the fan board, and then lift the fan board out of the system.
Installation Steps
1, Install the Cooling Fan Cage Board: Put the cooling fan cage board into the system, align it with the corresponding position, and then tighten the four screws on the fan board and connect all cables.
2, Install the Cooling Fan Cage Assembly: Align the guide rails on the cooling fan cage with the positioners on the system, put the cooling fan cage into the system, and then put down the blue release lever to lock the cooling fan cage in the system.
3, Install the Air Shroud: Align the slots on the air shroud with the positioners on the system, and put the air shroud into the system until it is firmly seated.
4, Install the System Cover: Align the tabs on the system cover with the guide - rail slots on the system, close the tool - less latch of the system cover, and use a 1/4 - inch flat - head or No. 2 Phillips screwdriver to rotate the lock clockwise to the locked position.
5, Reconnect and Power - on: If the system was removed from the rack before, reinstall it into the rack now. Then reconnect the peripheral devices, connect the system to the power socket, and start the system.
